Learn More about OneCop
Problem
With increased tensions continuing to surround local law enforcement, communities need solutions involving collaboration and innovative ways of coming together on a national scale.
National Faith & Blue Weekend provides an annual weekend of deep engagement, but there is the need to support ongoing collaboration between residents and law enforcement officers to facilitate systemic change.
Solution
The objectives of the OneCOP initiative include increasing community engagement with officers via congregations to decrease biases and increase familiarity, mutual respect and trust; improving public safety through collaboration and information sharing to combat crime and violence and, proactively creating direct links between law enforcement and community leaders in an effort to prevent violent crime while also giving voice to public concerns relative to policing and police reform.
OneCOP provides a framework for law enforcement agencies and houses of worship to collaborate throughout the year, with quarterly activities, communications on best practices, and established pairings between precincts and houses of worship.
