Coming Together with Law Enforcement in Athens, GA
As our nation grapples with civil turbulence brought on by recent controversies involving police, COVID-19 – the novel coronavirus – has single-handedly changed the way people live. These unprecedented developments have had a significant impact on the daily work of law enforcement offers as they engage in their duties to protect and serve.
As an expression of appreciation for the courageous work of officers and law enforcement professionals during the current pandemic, the Athens (GA) OneCOP Initiative and the national “Supporting the Blue” campaign have organized a Virtual Vigil for Athens Law Enforcement on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00am. The participants include local faith and community leaders and representatives from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, and the UGA Police Department.
