As a young organization, we are on a continuous learning path. A study conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice Programs showed that beat and patrol level officers are most motivated by and most loyal to their next ranking Sergeants. This is due to the fact that sergeants are the direct oversight of the officers and offer a level of coverage for the officers. Our previous method of only communicating with the senior command staff has led to numerous OneCOP assigned patrol and beat level officers oblivious to the program.

We addressed this communication gap by directly addressing the sergeants that work directly with the OneCOP partnered officers. These meetings in Portland were incredibly effective in gathering the support needed for the success of the program.
