Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to establish a Conviction Integrity Unit in 2021
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced it will establish a Conviction Integrity Unit in early 2021.
The unit will “work to prevent, identify, and remedy wrongful convictions by conducting fact-based reviews of past convictions,” according to Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. The unit is designed to diligently seek justice and work independently within the prosecutor’s office. This unit will be the first of its kind in Indiana and will consist of one attorney, an investigator, and a paralegal.
